Manau Zongge Nightly Dance (Longchuan, Jingpo)
From 20:00 to 21:00 every evening, on the square in Longchuan town, anyone can step into the dance line — no ticket, no ethnicity requirement, no age limit. Same drumbeat, same shout.
Manau Zongge is a first-batch national intangible cultural heritage item (Ⅹ-11, listed 2006) of the Jingpo people, declared by Longchuan County, Yunnan. Longchuan holds a nightly public session at Manau Zongge Square where, as reported through July 2026, entry is free and anyone may join the dance line regardless of ethnicity or age — so a foreign visitor can take part rather than only watch. Confirm the current schedule locally before travelling.
Longchuan County borders Myanmar. Foreign nationals entering a Chinese border administration zone need an electronic border-area travel permit, which must be applied for in person at an exit-entry administration office of a county-level or higher public security authority — travellers who only learn this after reaching Dehong lose the trip. The permit is free of charge. Confirm with the local exit-entry authority whether Longchuan requires one before you go.
